On the night of April 6, 2009, a terrible earthquake destroyed the city
of L'Aquila, in the mountain heart of Italy. This town
was the site of
the G8 meeting  held in July.

The earthquake dramatically damaged dozens of beautiful villages
located in one of the most historical and best preserved naturistic
areas of Italy.

HELP SAVE LUCOLI
The municipality of Lucoli, known as one of the finest ski area close to
Rome, sustained some of the most severe damage to its cultural and
historical heritage. In addition, all of the homes of the 1,006 local
residents are currently uninhabitable. The local residents have been
living in temporary campgrounds high in this mountainous region,
some as much as 5,000 feet in elevation.

The municipality is made up of 18 villages that date from the Middle
Ages.
These villages are masterpieces of Italian Middle Ages heritage, with
their bell towers, churches, abbeys and palaces, which need urgent
restoration in order to be preserved for the future and to not be lost
forever.

The municipality has taken the initiative to start a plan to collect the
funds necessary to preserve this world heritage which is now in
serious danger.

Any sponsor generous enough to help fund this project will have a
permanent commemorative plaque installed in their honor, to
recognize their efforts in helping Lucoli recover from this disaster.
